First, I have a good and patient dog.

Q really loves dressing her up.

Second, this is the Easy Cable Hat I made this weekend.

I really didn't have a pattern. I just made it up as I went along. I used JoAnn Sensations on size 11 needles.
Cast on 72 stitches.
K2P2 for 10 rows
K8P6 for 6 rows
Put 4 stitches onto a cable needle and hold in front, K4, then K off of cable needle 4 stitches. Repeat until you have 4 cable overs
K 5 rows
K2tog until you have about 5 stitches left, then with a tapestry needle or crochet hook weave together the remaining stitches
It fits me nicely and I have a 21 1/2 inch head. If you notice it has a purple dot at the top of the hat. Q requested I do that. She asked that I knit this hat for one of her teachers (I needed to do it in one weekend, no pressure or anything.)And her favorite colors are pink and purple, like Q, so she wanted the little touch of purple. I'm getting good at making hats, I've been getting lots of requests for them lately. I'll take that as a compliment.

HRM Queen of the Universe and Beyond, Supreme Ruler,Benevolent Dictator, and Altruistic Despot

...when she was just a princess.

I think I was about 12 or 13 at the time. This is the team pic of my summer swim team, although most of us swam on the same winter team. I swam competitively year round for 10 years and I was pretty good at it. I went to state most years. I'm the last one on the left, third row up from the bottom. My suit was blue with a gold stripe. An old friend who is also in this pic dug it up and sent it to me.

I wanted a pic of Molly Parker from Facts of Life on her rollerskates plus a snarky title. I couldn't find the pic, so ...

I just have to update you on the new rollerskating rules with out it.
1. No rollerskating naked on the coffee table with your eyes closed!
2. No rollerskating down the stairs while holding the dog on a leash!

Lazy Sunday

Today I sat down and knit half of the Hermione Hat. Except I'm making mine with bobbles instead of yarn overs, and Burgundy Andean Silk yarn. I made the hat for my SIL for Christmas and thought the yarn overs probably made the hat colder than it needs to be, so I changed it to bobbles. I'm also using the left over yarn from my SIL's hat, so lets hope I will have enough. I also just finished knitting something for myself. It's a reversible cable scarf. I made it in a fuzzy purple wool blend though. I have a whole host of things I want to knit for myself, but they keep getting put on the back burner for baby blankets, Christmas presents and requests from people. I guess I just need to make knitting time for myself.
And why haven't I posted any pics of my creations??? Because I lost the SD card from my camera with tons of pics on it. I have most of them saved to disk, but not the brand new ones and besides it just pisses me off. Now I have to go buy another. Grrrrrr.

Another installment of... things you never thought you would say before you became a parent.

Against my better judgement, I bought Q the roller skates she wanted for Christmas. The kid is accident prone enough, so naturally I give her another way of inflicting damage upon herself and others. she opened them up Christmas Day, and after the happy squeely dance around the living room I gave her the lecture about wearing a helmet, knee and elbow pads, and a few other safety issues. But then reality sets in. Here are some of the things I have been screaming...
No skating down the stairs!
No skating blindfolded!
No skating down the stairs blindfolded!
Stop putting the dog on a leash and getting her to pull you around on your skates!
No getting up before Mom and roller skating on the ice wearing nothing but a night gown!
(and my favorite...)
No skating while playing the violin!

I never did like the movie Titanic

O.k., maybe I will blog a little bit. I've been anti Internet lately. I'm just tired of sitting and looking at it. I do think of things to blog every day, but loathe to actually sit and write it all down. So here are some random things I've considered posting. I had a patient a few weeks ago who has 6 grown children who live out on their own, and 8 grand children. What is so unusual about that? She is younger than me. Only by a year, which makes her 41. By my calculations, if her youngest was rock bottom minimum of 18 to be an adult, and she had one child a year for 6 years (both of which are unlikely. It's pretty uncommon to have one a year, or be so together at the age of 18 to be fully living out on your own)she would have had to be 17 at the oldest when she started having kids. More likely she started at 14 or 15. However, by the time she was 41 she was completely done. But all the same, holy cow! Hope your Holidays were great!
