What we've got here is... failure to communicate

I received a letter from Child Support Enforcement(CSE) for our state. The letter said they were going to go after Assholes employer to withhold $60 a week in child support. Woo-hoo 60 whole dollars! One little problem. The employer listed was the one he worked at about a year and a half ago before he moved out of the country. Naturally anyone who is trying to skip out on child support doesn't inform CSE of where they are going. After he left with out saying goodbye to Q, I e-mailed CSE and told them what happened. I never heard anything again. So I e-mailed again, nothing. So I snail mailed them too. I never heard anything. I rarely call CSE because you can wait on hold for 30 minutes, then hear a recording that due to heavy calls I am being disconnected and to e-mail them with the information. So, today after calling CSE no less than 8 times and getting disconnected I called another department. They deal with employers who are to withhold money for the state for child support. I figured at least I can talk to somebody. They pulled up my file and lo and behold...they never heard that he moved out of the country or was not employed at the previous company anymore. So lets see, they don't let you talk to anyone, and they want you to e-mail or send a letter with info. But the info never gets to anyone. So what the fuck am I supposed to do? The woman I did talk to did say that if he lives outside the country, and they have no address, there was almost no chance I will ever get any money. I wasn't holding out any great hope that I would. It really doesn't upset me as much as you would think. It does give me great satisfaction knowing that I have single handildy raised and supported my child. And in the long run, over the years, she will come to see that too. But that doesn't make me any less aggravated by the bureaucracy of CSE.

Well at least you got thur to them and was able to talk to a real person for them to update the records. My child support is still sporadic and the last child is 19 now. He would not even help with the college tuition for her. But rest assured, the kids grow up and know who really loves them by the sacrifices we make for them. That is a good feeling when that happens.
